或許您從來沒想過，一個漫長的故事被壓縮在這一段短短的文字中，其藝術手法令人嘆為觀止。
如果作者很想念那位女子，為什麼開頭不描寫她的容顏，而是描寫她的彩袖？ 記人難道不是應該以記臉為主嗎？ 沒那麼簡單，也沒那麼俗氣，在沒有電影和照相機的時代，作者含蓄地告訴我們： 給他印象最深刻的畫面，是他坐在椅子上時，伊人手捧酒杯的畫面，而坐著的人，第一眼看到的是手和袖子。 如果宋代有電影，有攝像機，這一畫面恰到好處。
