台湾副总统赖清德1月15日当选为民进党主席。他声明表示，民进党下个阶段的使命是，在复杂多变的国际局势中，坚定守护台湾，促进台湾的民主、和平、繁荣。
综合媒体报导，执政的民进党15日举行第17届党主席补选投票，唯一候选人副总统赖清德，以4万1,840票当选，得票率99.65%，这次补选投票率17.59%。赖清德周三（18日）就职之际，党务人事也将大换血。
赖清德15日声明表示，党主席补选顺利结束，接下来是民进党赢回人民信任的开始；他深深地感谢所有的党员同志，透过党内民主机制，传达了对民进党的疼惜与鞭策。
赖清德强调，他的目标是团结全党，带领大家重新擦亮清廉勤政爱乡土与绿色执政品质保证的两块招牌，指出民进党存在的目的是为了台湾打拼，过去民进党推动民主改革，下个阶段的使命是，在复杂多变的国际局势中，坚定守护台湾，促进台湾的民主、和平、繁荣。
赖上火线拼2024 党政运作成焦点
如无其他挑战者，赖清德除担任党主席外，也可能是民进党2024总统大选候选人，并掌握立委选举提名权，党务和选务未来合一，转型战斗党中央，这是赖清德的助力，但也可能是阻力。
前民进党立委林浊水分析，赖清德要纯粹当一个党政分离的党主席，抑或积极介入国家政务，端看赖的自我定位。前民进党立委段宜康则于日前受访时提到，赖清德接掌党主席后，既是主帅也是前锋，恐缺乏防火墙。
4年前陪赖清德打过总统初选的立委林俊宪认为，蔡赖合作后，政治上就没有矛盾了，4年来两人培养了一定的默契信任，蔡英文交办的很多外交、国安相关工作，赖清德都不辱使命完成。
林俊宪说，蔡英文要做新一波的政治铺排，包括内阁改组、中壮世代放在哪些战斗位子；赖清德接掌党机器，需要蔡英文的协助，才能团结党内，蔡赖合作是党内所期盼、大局所需要。
台湾去年底举行“九合一选举”，民进党大败，时任党主席蔡英文宣布辞职负责。赖清德在征询其他派系领导人后，决定亲征出马角逐，扛起攸关中央执政权的2024总统与立委选举布局，展现他的决心。
赖清德一直是民进党内的政治明星，直至担任行政院长，为民进党2018年地方选举败选扛责下台；但随后挑战总统蔡英文，争取2020总统提名，掀起党内惊涛骇浪，最后落败，饱尝政坛冷暖。
