一份市调公司所做的调查显示，在亚太七个地区中，香港最不快乐，整体快乐指数仅5.6分，而各年龄层中，又以90后、00后对生活最为悲观。
据港媒报导，香港一家人工智能市场调查公司Votee，针对亚太七个地区，包括：香港、新加玻、泰国、印尼、马来西亚、台湾、及菲律宾，于前年（2021）10月至去年（2022）12月进行快乐指数调查，以问卷方式收集受访者对自己快乐指数的看法。
调查发现，人均国民生产总值越高的地区，快乐指数越低。譬如，香港人均国民生产总值49,660港元，位居前列，惟香港整体快乐指数仅5.6分（10分为满分），而菲律宾人均国民生产总值3,548元，为所有地区排列接近榜末，但其整体快乐指数高达7.59分，位居第二。
调查报告指出，香港在调查期间的快乐指数变化幅度较大，前年11月至去年4月一直呈现低迷状态，在平均5.38分徘徊。去年5月，香港放宽社交距离措施后，快乐指数有上升趋势；近年底时，由于防疫措施接近完全放宽，以及将迎来多个节日假期，因此去年11月的指数一度达到6.12分高峰，翌月亦保持回暖迹象。此外，整体而言，女性的快乐指数高于男性。
报告又指，亚太地区过去一年的快乐指数呈现下滑状态，从前年10月起的7.47分降至去年12月的6.5分，但在去年3月及11月时，分别轻微回升至7.31分及6.94分。泰国、菲律宾及印尼一直居于榜首，香港则是敬陪末座。
亚太地区快乐指数排名首三位依次是：泰国（7.62分）、菲律宾（7.59分）、印尼（7.45分）。
