在1月11日的出庭中，Newbery被指控於2022年7月從Woolworths Clifford Gardens偷竊了價值380澳元的雜貨。
她的手推車裡有她18個月大的侄女的尿布和嬰兒配方奶粉。
這位45歲的女士沒有付錢，她推着購物車走過工作人員，走出購物中心，在那裡她被逮捕。
檢察官Anita Page說，Newbery告訴警方，”她住在她姐姐家，那裡沒有食物……。她買不起所有她想購買的物品”。
法官Kay Philipson以盜竊罪判處紐貝里8個月監禁，但下令她立即獲得假釋。
