近日，一張狗狗坐在副駕駛上，伸着舌頭欣賞窗外風景的照片意外在網上走紅了，據說這隻名叫Floss的狗狗已經完成了2萬公里環澳之旅，按照距離來算它看過的澳洲景色已經比大部分人都多了。很多人都在感嘆Floss一定是遇到一個非常寵愛它的好主人，但真實的情況卻遠比人們想象的殘酷，Floss其實是一隻來自西澳北部Kununurra寵物收養所的流浪狗，而它踏上的這段旅程也是一個意外。
Kununurra作為澳大利亞西部的一個非常小的城鎮，這裡的寵物收容所不管是從規模還是其他條件上來說都很糟糕，而Floss一直以來就住在這兒，但它性格溫和，乖巧懂事，收容所的工作人員不願意看到它一直留在愈發擁擠不堪的收容所，於是聯繫了澳洲第四大城市珀斯的動物保護機構，因為Floss在珀斯這樣的大城市裡，可以被人收養的概率會大得多！
很幸運，珀斯的動物保護機構的志願者小姐姐剛好有一位卡車司機朋友，近期剛好在Kununurra附近，他可以順路將狗子帶到珀斯來。然而誰都沒想到，這趟原本以為的短途旅程竟然會升級成史詩般的環澳之旅！
起初，一人一狗的開局十分順利，他們一路沿着西部海岸來到珀斯以北的Geraldton。這個西澳的小城市以其美麗的海灘聞名，傳說中的「粉湖」就在這附近！但是一條緊急任務卻打斷了原本規劃好的行程，由於澳洲東部突如其來的洪水使很多人受災，需要不少簡易帳篷等裝備，這位司機朋友需要返回Kununurra取一批救災物資趕往維多利亞州。在救災面前，他們只好一同驅車北上。取了貨物就往往南一路開向澳洲中部的Alice Spring。
愛麗絲泉名字雖然聽起來很清新，但它所處的地理位置其實是在澳洲的中部，再加上最近澳洲炎熱乾旱的天氣和車上壞了的空調，這趟救災之旅實在讓人吃盡了苦頭。好在這一路上都有Floss的陪伴，它總是乖巧地坐在副駕駛上，只有偶爾看到一群奶牛才能讓它興奮起來！
就這樣不知過了多久，他們終於抵達南澳的Port Augusta，見到了久違的一抹藍色！隨後他們經由阿德萊德來到維多利亞州，將物資送到了受災地點。本以為可以回歸他們最初的旅程，但是司機此時又接到了一個「支線任務」——去巴拉瑞特小鎮提貨送往布里斯班！直到到了布里斯班，他們才終於驅車穿過昆士蘭、新南威爾士和維多利亞三個州，然後再次越過南澳，這才終於抵達了最初的目的地：珀斯！在這趟說走就走的旅行中，一人一狗之間已經培養出了可貴的友誼，這一路滿打滿算，已經過去一個月的時間，一人一狗組合走出了20000km的距離！
在抵達珀斯後，他們受到了志願者小姐姐和朋友們的熱情歡迎。儘管大家都誇大叔有愛心，一大把年紀了還被迫參加「說走就走的旅行」，路上又要照顧小狗。然而大叔卻認為：「如果不是有Floss陪伴的話，我可能堅持不下去。」
很多時候無聲的陪伴就是這樣的，只有在極致孤獨的情況下才會顯示出它的可貴。不過像Floss這樣溫順乖巧，又忠心耿耿的夥伴，大概很快就會被好心人收養了吧！
但其實並不是所有收養所的狗狗都能有Floss這樣的傳奇經歷。志願者小姐姐表示，這些可憐的小傢伙們遭到不負責任的主人拋棄，只好在收養所度日如年。有很多人會把寵物當作聖誕和新年的禮物送人，但並不是每個人都能成為一個好主人，在節日過去之後，這些人類忠實的朋友就會遭到大量遺棄。
因此，志願者們藉此機會呼籲：寵物不是商品，也不是禮品，它們是忠實的朋友，值得被溫柔對待！一旦你準備好了成為它們的主人，那就請一定準備好為這些毛孩子的一生負責！
