新疆乌鲁木齐市因COVID-19疫情而封城已经30多天，从网民发布的图片、帖文与视频显示，封城情况更甚于武汉，外出散步上手铐拘15天，市民被逼著喝下预防肺炎的中药，连孕妇也不放过，快被逼疯的乌鲁木齐民众通过呐喊宣泄压抑，还被警察约谈。网友质疑，新疆是在抗疫还是变成了监狱？
据苹果日报报导，新疆自7月15日确认首个确诊案例后，整个乌鲁木齐就遭到封锁，即使距离疫区乌鲁木齐有1,000多公里的地级市没有任何确诊病人，居民同样被关上一个多月不让出门。
有网民说，孕妇也须喝下中药，市民必须在社区人员监督下喝下去.每天必须给社区人员发送喝药的视频，有的还要求喝完后张嘴，已确认是否已将药喝下。乌鲁木齐的市民表示，喝完这些中药后出现了肚痛、失眠、肚屙等不适症状。
还有网民提供由新疆同学发来的照片，显示居民的大门都被大铁钉封门，全部人要在家“坐牢”，如果有人离开社区，就会被锁上手铐等候“发落”。“新疆上千万人现在都进集中营了。而且还是自己的家被变成集中营。”
另有民众透露，小区市民被要求在社区清零14日内不得外出散步，违反规定者会被送到隔离点自费隔离21天，然后再送往看守所居留15天。
网友在推特上传的视频显示，8月20日上午，乌鲁木齐市某社区居委会强迫居民吃药，且把居民集中到社区办公室一起吃。网友评论说：“不管出于何种原因，强迫人们集中吃药的恶行与纳粹无异！”“不但会强迫吃药，还会把人集中起来强迫吃。”
还有推文说，“乌鲁木齐的疫情又上演一次无人权的体制‘优越性’。这次比武汉好严重，疯狂删帖，集体喝药，电焊家门……也不是事发突然，也不是经验不足，也没有医疗挤兑，干嘛这样……”
因为疫情被关了30多天的市民，也跟当初的武汉市民一样，通过呐喊来宣泄压抑，却被警察约谈。网友说，“在中共国，在家呐喊也是违法的！乌鲁木齐封城超过一个月，居民在家呐喊发泄，被警方约谈。”
还有网友质疑，“新疆是在抗疫还是变成了监狱？社区工作人员都像监狱的看守一样气势汹汹地监管著社区居民。”
