今年澳網公開賽創紀錄的觀眾人數加劇了交通問題，許多球迷稱夜場比賽結束太晚，打不到車回家。
據《時代報》報道，球迷Aimee表示，她上周大約11點30分試圖從John Cain競技場外的接送區叫一輛Uber網約車，但多名司機接單後都取消了。
Aimee說，她最終放棄了打車回家，選擇去趕凌晨12點20分從Richmond出發的最後一班火車。
維州公共交通廳長Ben Carroll於1月22日表示，觀看比賽的球迷應該搭乘公共交通，但很多人抱怨午夜之後沒有可用的公共交通。
網球迷Shana Levine說：「除周末外，在公開賽那一周里，午夜後沒有火車從Richmond開出。考慮到大多數(夜場)比賽的結束時間，告訴公眾使用火車是一個笑話。」
Victoria Azarenka對朱琳的比賽於23日凌晨2點17分結束， Andy Murray與Thanasi Kokkinakis的比賽則耗時5小時45分鐘於上周五（20日）凌晨4點05分結束。
此外，球迷們還面臨多條火車線路關閉。在公開賽期間大部分時間裡，Frankston、Cranbourne和Pakenham線路由巴士替代，Mernda和Hurstbridge線路也有過暫停服務。
維州政府的一位女發言人說，政府為澳網公開賽每天提供了大約300班額外的電車，每日運力多達3.4萬人。
「我們確保在比賽結束前都有公共交通選擇，在比賽結束後至少一個小時，提供從墨爾本公園返回市區的有軌電車。」該發言人說。
澳網首周共有534,528人湧入墨爾本公園，創下每日超過94,000人次的記錄。
