4月26日，中共大外宣多维新闻网突然宣布关闭。官方通知称：香港时间2022年4月26日始，《多维新闻》所属网站与APP等因内部新闻业务调整，将与各位读者朋友告别，感谢多年来的陪伴与关注。
多维新闻网成立于1999年，为明镜新闻集团总裁何频创立，总部设在美国纽约。其投资者包括李录所代表的“美国风险投资”以及“立方网”的CEO熊万里，投资达5000万人民币。
2009年，多维网被港商于品海以中国数码信息有限公司旗下的子公司名义，收购了多维部分股份，拥有控股地位，目前隶属于香港南海控股集团。南海控股是于品海所持有的上市公司，该集团旗下另一媒体业务是“香港01”。多维网被转让后，总部搬至北京。
舆论宣传阵地历来是中共必争之地，用毛泽东的话说，该阵地无产阶级不占领，资产阶级就会占领。中共在大外宣上历来不惜血本投资，为何突然自残关闭多维网呢？
一、入戏太深？
说起大外宣，大家并不陌生，我们身边的CGTN、人民日报和环球时报海外版就是公开的大外宣。但多维网并没有承认自己是中共的外宣，它被称为亲共媒体。多维网与以上大外宣有些不同，因为它在为中共辩护和带风向的同时，也批评中共甚至有时将矛头直指中共党魁习近平。
4月12日，它刊发文章《“精准防疫”真的行不通吗？》；4月23日《三问防疫》等，批评中国政府的动态清零政策，呼吁采取与病毒共存的抗疫模式。
4月22日，多维网刊文提议效仿所谓的“高层政治精英推举制”，让200名左右的中央委员“小圈子”，选出中共下一代领导人。
时政评论人士岳山认为，多维网此时罕见提议给习近平准备接班人有两种可能：一个是为中南海放风，另一个是带有内斗的因素，为中共党内某派反习势力发声。
多年前，多维网曾公开批评习近平，让自己的外宣角色变得很模糊。2018年12月3日，它刊发文章《极左撕裂中国 习近平应负责任》。该文一刊登立即引起了舆论关注。文章称，作为中共“核心”，习近平要为中共左转“妖风”负责，必须进行自我检讨。文章将社会左右撕裂的责任归因于习近平的个人集权、“党管一切”、个人崇拜和意识形态左转，声称正是因为有这些“左转”的因素作为前提，诸如“民营经济退场论”等言论，才能引爆早已埋下的定时炸弹，在短时间内掀起狂风巨浪。有分析文章指出，多维网的文章还对习近平的执政理论、经济政策、模糊的意识形态和“定于一尊”的权威进行了全面的抨击，认为习近平应该为当下乱局负责，进行全面检讨。文章还提到外界关于“习近平就是想当第二个毛泽东”的评价，并称习上台后一些层面问题和矛盾更加激化，质疑习是否已经“失去了判断”等。
中共二十大将决定习近平的连任，但多维网去年曾刊登文章要对习近平进行监督，并义正词严的说，“因为一党专政且不同于西方的三权分立，中共的政治体制往往被西方政治人物和媒体批评是缺乏监督的专制体制。又因为监督流程透明度的缺乏，外界一直不甚了解中共到底如何“自我监督”并接受党外监督？中共最高层领导集体——中共中央和总书记是否也会被监督、又接受怎样的监督？”
多维网既然是大外宣，为中共党国宣传和带风向是它的本分，但如此公开批评习近平，其炮火甚至浓于民主人士，不由让人有点蒙圈，莫非扮演民主网站入戏太深？
2014年5月15日，多维网就被“关闭过”，从早上至中午为止，该网站一直不能进入，网页上的声明说“系统需要重构，感谢你的支持。”有分析人士指出，多维被关闭大概是中共执政者对多维网的运作不满，或是小骂碰着当局敏感点，帮了倒忙。
二、被关闭的原因
目前主要有两种观点：
一是投资失利。南海控股董事会已向香港联交所披露，单在2021年，亏损达到30亿至34亿港元，而在2020年亦已亏损25.3亿港元，两年总亏损额达到50余亿港元。亏损的主要原因是集团在中国大陆的房地产业务受重创，加上大陆疫情反复，亦影响了影院业务。未来多维新闻将会调整新闻内容业务，且整体并进入“香港01”。
另据《星岛日报》引述消息称，“多维新闻”员工主要在北京，大概有五六十人，多数被遣散，少数转入“香港01”。
我认为，财务困难应该不是主要原因，因为既然是中共的外宣，经费自然由政府支持。多维网的背景应该是国安部门。曾经作为外媒记者的国内大学生田畅2019年5月从美国返回中国后，被国安部门抓捕。他在监视居住期间，曾与我通话。田畅说，北京（国安部门）那边找他，要把他安排到多维网或《人民日报》海外版工作，最后他选择去了多维。
我认为，多维网被关闭的原因是因为它深度卷入中共高层权斗，成为中共的一支反习势力。
经济学者何清涟就曾多次撰文表示，“多维”曾是中共前党魁江泽民的舆论发声筒。针对多维网文章“极左撕裂中国 习近平应负起责任”，何清涟曾在推特上发文说，“国安派系外宣媒体疑似吹响倒习号角，……文章列举习的几大罪状，将倒习看作党与政权的生死存亡大事。该刊总部在北京，这样做，只有两个可能：一是准备鱼死网破，二是认为己方有胜算。”
或许多维网也意识到政治战队的风险，曾尝试靠拢习近平。2022年1月25日，何清涟在《外宣媒体发出清算“江泽民路线”信号》一文认为，从习近平上台至今，多维网对江曾的态度也经历了变化，当年对江泽民一系有袒护之意，现在出系列文为江算了几笔账，最重要的是指江早年犯过反邓小平改革开放的路线错误。或与习近平最近放话“零容忍态度惩治腐败”有关。
综上所述，我认为，多维网是中共党内中共老人集团的政治代言人，尽管它也受制于习近平当局，观点左支右绌。但目前是习近平二十大连任的决战时刻，多维网明显踏了习近平的政治红线，即反对封城清零抗疫和习近平二十大连任，自然不被习所容。但习采取直接关闭的措施，完全不顾及社会的反应，反映出中共高层权斗已经白热化，撕破了脸皮。也充分说明中共绝不是铁板一块，习近平二十大连任将面对严峻挑战。何清涟指出，种种迹象表明，习近平正在全力对付中共党内最后一支有挑战能力的暗盘力量。必须要指出的是：中共老人集团中，江泽民只是个象征，党内势力现在只有这一系能够向习近平叫板，不满习的各种力量都寄望于这支势力出来与习对阵，习近平要防的就是反习力量这种纠合，干脆将大树放倒，让有反意者无枝可依。但中共即使关闭多维网，也不会放弃海外宣传阵地，一个取代多维网，体现习战狼风格的中共大外宣必将浮出水面，它又会是谁呢？
