黃曆新年已到來，各國人民都有不同飲食傳統，藉由年菜，送舊迎新也祈福。
日本蕎麥麵——送走一年厄運
日本除夕又叫「大晦日」，像其他亞洲國家，日本人在除夕也要吃團圓飯；全家人一起看NHK電視台的紅白歌唱大賽，也是日本人的典型除夕活動。
節目快結束時，每一家的主婦會開始準備「過年蕎麥麵」。日本人深信，除夕深夜12點以前吃完一碗蕎麥麵，才能去除舊的一年的惡運，順利迎接新的一年。
越南新年粽子——象徵天圓地方
粽子是越南年菜的主角，用來祭拜天地和祖先，祈求新的一年能夠事事順利、吉祥好運。同時，方形粽象徵天圓地方，極具特色，是過年才吃的功夫菜。
越南粽子的食材有糯米、綠豆仁、胡椒粉及一塊肥豬肉。備好料就依序放進折好的柊葉，用手捏成方形，或是使用木製的模具，用竹篾紮起來蒸熟透就行。
韓國年糕湯——期待新的一年
韓國人過年一定要吃年糕餃子湯，在新年第一天吃一碗年糕湯，就長大一歲。韓國人對剛認識的人，一開始問對方的年齡：「您吃過幾碗年糕湯？」
自己煮韓式水餃湯，將餃子在柴魚高湯中煮沸，再加入年糕、泡菜和肉末，最後加一顆蛋。水餃湯湯底也可換成牛肉湯，並加入圓柱形年糕，稱為水餃年糕湯。
好吃不如餃子——過年除舊布新
餃子形狀像元寶，過年吃餃子，有團圓、喜慶的好兆頭，這是一般現代人對新年吃餃子的印象。其實，新年吃餃子歷史悠久，有其文化意義。
過年除夕包餃子，在中國北方是最重要的傳統過年習俗之一。除夕夜餃子在12點包完要馬上吃，餃子、餃子，交在子時，取「更歲交子」的含義，象徵辭舊迎新。
西班牙12顆葡萄——一整年都幸福
西班牙盛產葡萄，新年傳統也與葡萄有關。在每年最後12秒，如果能按鐘聲響的節奏，在最後一聲跨年鐘響時吃完12顆，象徵明年是幸運的一年。
據說，19世紀時，西班牙阿利坎特的葡萄園大豐收，為尋找銷路，想在市面上推廣吃葡萄會帶來好運，吸引更多人購買，演變至今，成為有趣的新年傳統。
